About the OHSF and the Outer Harbour

The Outer Harbour Sailing Federation represents eight community water-sport clubs that share a small strip of Toronto's outer harbour for the enjoyment of sailing and rowing enthusiasts. For over thirty years the OHSF has provided membership fees at a fraction of the cost of a conventional yacht club.

The OHSF is unique in Canada. Nowhere else has a community grown organically to provide low-cost, volunteer-based water recreation programs to a wide cross section of people without public funding. It would be difficult to replicate this today. Visitors from the United States and Europe marvel at the extent and diversity of our eight community clubs.

OHSF member clubs have direct access to the water's edge. This is required as almost all of the boats sailed and rowed in the Outer Harbour are stored on land and hauled to the water each time they are used. In order to make this manageable for all, very short hauling distances are essential and floating docks are used for daily launching.

How to Find Us

The Outer Harbour Sailing Federation's member clubs are all located on Regatta Road, just off of Unwin Street. Our clubs are easily accessible by car via Cherry Street and Unwin; by bicycle via the Martin Goodman Trail; and on weekends the TTC's Cherry Street 172 bus stops a short walk away.

Tommy Thompson Park, also known as the Leslie Street Spit Spit, arches southwest some 3.2 miles into Lake Ontario, extending just beyond the eastern end of the Toronto Islands.
