About Our Club

Looking for summer fun sailing, enjoying fantastic social events or just hanging out? Come down and visit us any evening or weekend. Mooredale Sailing Club is a non-profit adult co-operative sailing club that focuses on two-man Albacores, one-man Lasers and Hobie sailing boats. We are located just off Unwin Drive, between Cherry Beach and the Leslie St. Spit. We have changing rooms and lockers, free parking, a cozy lounge with a wood stove, gas barbeques and a sundeck all on the water's edge. – A secret cottage in the city!

Types of Boats

• 18 Albacores - 15 foot long used for racing and social sailing
• 4 Lasers - 12 foot long used for racing and social sailing
• 2 Hobie 16s - 16 foot long catamaran with two sails and double trapeze for two or three people
• 470 - 15 foot long used for racing and social sailing
• 3 power boats - used for training and running races

Services and Programming

New to sailing:
Typically a new sailor takes a White Sail III sailing course (price included in the membership). A set of White Sail lessons includes one evening of Water Safety at a local pool, plus either weeknight classes or weekend classes. The lessons cover all the basics of sailing and are taught by certified Canadian Yachting Instructors. All graduates who pass receive CYA certification become club skippers, i.e. able to take a boat out unsupervised with another sailor or a visitor.

There are 4 white sail sessions every year. The first block of lessons starts in early May and are booked on a first come first served basis. Please check the Mooredale web site to find out the dates of all the White Sail classes to find the one that suits your schedule.

Our price includes everything. (Full Membership for under $500). There are no extra fees for taking boats out. We have life jackets to loan you. You need only bring sailing clothes and boots (an old t-shirt, cheap rain wear, and rain boots are fine) and if you sail in May, a lightweight wet suit.

Interested in Racing:
Over the past 35 years Mooredale has continued to produce some of the top dingy racers. Those interested in racing have access to top quality training every week and the ability to use our boats in the many races that take place ever week.

Membership to Mooredale is open to anyone 19 years of age or older.
