Water Rats Sailing Club was established in 1969 as a dry sail olympic class dinghy racing club and has grown over the years to an active club for all types of dry-sailed water craft.  Water Rats is a grass roots sailing club with a keen racing membership with organized races running twice a week from May until September and then weekends until the end of November.  While predominately a Laser sailing club with one of the largest fleets in North America, it has expanded to include catamarans, canoes/kayaks, as well as various monohull dinghies.  All members of Water Rats own there own boats, however we enjoy the lowest annual membership fee for any organized sailing club in the country.  With subsidized racing, regular BBQ's, boat storage and easy water access, it is quite simply the best deal around.

The following types of boats are acceptable at the Water Rats:

· dry sailed dinghies/catamarans (without cabins)
· sailboards
· canoes or kayaks

Not acceptable:
Motorboats, Jet Skis/PWC, keelboats, any type of boat with a cabin, boats that have a LOA over 20', boats that are in excess of 420lbs are all not permitted.

We paddle, we sail, and we enjoy what Lake Ontario has to offer. Our legendary Laser (1 & 2) and catamaran races provide a spectacle for local beachgoers every Tuesday and Thursday evening in high summer, and on Sundays in the fall when dusk comes earlier.

All you need is a simple boat and gear, the modest membership fee, and your enthusiasm for experiencing Lake Ontario. You also need to be at least 18 years of age.

One-time initiation fee: $100
Key deposit: $20
Annual membership fee: $150 ($75 for students)
Late membership renewal*: $250 ($125 for students)

* applies to renewals after Clean-Up Day

For new members joining after September 1, the membership fee for the first season is reduced to $75.

Also please note that all members are required to have personal liability insurance for a minimum of $1 000 000.00 (typically included as part of any home or apartment insurance policy).
